The Gravetones – Dig It! www.thegravetones.com www.myspace.com/thegravetones
Record Label: Criminal IQ Reocrds
Scary Larry......Throat Joey Gravetone......Swingin' Little Guitar Man Brad Keil......Big Bad Bass Master Jimmy the Butcher......Skinsman
To just paraphrase The Gravetones, “they are a rock n’ roll band that just sound like all their influences”. Well…they have been influenced by a lot. You want Rock? They play Rock. You want Blues? They‘ve got Blues. You want Surf? They’ve got that too….and how can you go wrong with a band that dedicates a song to the one and only Ron Jeremy? I don’t think you can. Scary Larry has that sound of if Elvis ever went hardcore, but he doesn’t over do it to the point where you’re saying “Come on already!” He’s got his own original sound to it. Joey Gravetone grinds that guitar on tracks such as “Burn Baby Burn” and “It’s Been A Long Time” and pulls back to give other tracks just that “Right” touch that’s needed like on “In Cold Blood” and “Creepy Girls”. Brad and Jimmy have the rhythm section all tied up. Their solid, tight and pounding!
If you’re not sure how you feel for music and don’t know what mood you’re in and what you want to listen to, find The Gravetones, they’ll give you everything! “Dig It!” was their debut album and released in 2006 and now they’ve just released their new CD “On The Edge of Madness

The Dirge Carolers www.dirgecarolers.com www.myspace.com/thedirgecarolers
Lead vocals, Bass, Drum and Keyboard programming - Chris Harnois Guitar - Peter Nulton Keyboards - Heather Nulton Guitar - Dorian James
We were recently handed a new studio cut by the Goth Guitarist Peter Nulton of The Dirge Carolers, from out of Massachusetts, titled “The Dunwich Horror”. This track is based on the H.P. Lovecraft story of the same name and it does a good job at creating the “uncomfortable eeriness” that Lovecraft’s stories can have with a modern sound. Chris Harnois’s vocals blend well and his tone is just right to convey the haunting lyrics of the doomed Wilbur Whateley. The Dirge Carolers don’t go over the top to make this cut sound heavy or pound this song into the listener, they keep it simple and keep it creepy and it works!

Saints Of Ruin - Fairytale www.saintsofruin.com www.myspace.com/saintsofruin Lead Vocals, Bass Guitar – Ruby Ruin All Guitars – Tommy Dark Keyboards, vocals – John Paul Young Drums – Michael Broadus
Fairytale is the new release by the San Francisco Goth quartet “Saints Of Ruin”. Lead vocalist Ruby Ruin has a great solid, melodic voice that you can feel her emotions as she sings the well written lyrics on this 5 song CD.
Ruin and guitarist Tommy Dark handle the writing duties and the two blend well together with their styles. Michael Broadus’s drums are solid, check out the cut “Forever” and John Paul Young gives Saints Of Ruin that extra touch of atmosphere that makes their sound unique. Even after talking with Tommy Dark and listening to the CD we still think this is Goth with a rock feel, but Tommy assures us that it’s Goth. Well if there’s a Goth/Rock category you’d have to induct Saints Of Ruin in it…but that’s just our opinion. Go check them out and decide for yourself.

Monument Of Bones www.myspace.com/monumentofbones
Record Label: Unsigned
All Music, Lyrics, Guitars – Joel Bagley Vocals – Greg Ponder Lead Guitar – Scott Snow Lead Guitar – Steve Childers Drums – Richard Christy Keys – John (Zee)Scott Bass – Derek Malone Lead Guitars – Grimstone
This “Horror Metal” band, as they describe themselves, hails from Missouri and what you notice immediately if you look at the line up is they’re an 8 piece band, with 4 different lead guitars! They definitely get the most out of that line up with all the options they have at their disposal. This demo of 6 songs is perfect for a horror soundtrack…As long as the movie was extremely evil and brutal with a cringe factor of “Get me the bucket I don’t think I can keep the popcorn down!” We’d lean towards this being “Death Metal” but Monument Of Bones is going for something different here and they pull themselves away from the “Death” category to reach that horror feel. They pull in some very melodic sections such as on “Hordes From Beyond”. Don’t get us wrong here, the guitars crunch, the bass and drums are tight and the vocals range from a predators growl to a King Diamond-esq screech. The keysboards are what’s giving them a different sound, they’re not just filler, they add that extra ambiance to the songs. If you’re a film maker and are looking for something new for soundtrack Monument Of Bones will give you that extra kick that you’re looking for.

Horroble – Death of Ghost www.myspace.com/horroble www.horroble.com www.carnygoat.com
Record Label: Unsigned
Guitars & Vocals – Luci Bass – Bobby Drums – Chris “gobo” Pierce
When you hear the description “Death Rock”, you might think Misfits, Calabrese or The Independents. Horroble is not like them. They’ve got their own sound. It’s not your full force “Death Metal” or your “Goth” sound. Not even Psycobilly. It’s Rock, with at touch of “Death” to it. It does have a “Punk” feel to it, but it’s not your basic 3 chord band. Horroble brings some great hooks, riffs and a new sound to us. There are a number of good songs on this 10 track disc. If you’re looking for something new in the “Death” department this might be what you’re looking for.

Wicked Little Dolls www.myspace.com/wickedlittledolls www.carnygoat.com
Record Label: Carny Goat
All Vocals – Scareifina Guitars – Luci (Yes, THAT Luci) Bass – Mizari Drums – Marcelo
The sound of the band is a grungy rock, with a little twisted-ness attached to it. Scareifina’s vocals sound like she’s a real live Wicked Little Doll. They’re perfect for it. In this day and age of the 5 octave divas that must hit every note on the scale just to get from an A to a B and the female fronted bands who all sound like Evanescence, Scareifina brings a new voice and an attitude that moves everything along at a wicked little pace. Luci plays differently when not fronting Horroble, which shows a true sense of musicianship that you don’t hear a lot of these days. A number of good cuts off this CD make us look forward to their next!
