PARANORMAL ACTIVITYCOMES HOME FOR ONE LUCKY FAN
PARAMOUNTCELEBRATES BOX OFFICE PHENOMENON’S DEC. 29 DVD/BLU-RAY RELEASE WITH WORLD PREMIERE OF UNRATED VERSION IN REHOBOTH, MASSACHUSETTS
HOLLYWOOD, December 22, 2009 – Paranormal Activity, the chilling surprise hit that had fans everywhere “demanding it,” comes home on DVD and Blu-ray December 29. To celebrate, Paramount Home Entertainment will host the world premiere of an unrated version of the film for Jessica DiMeo of Rehoboth, Mass., the winner of the Paranormal Activity
Red Carpet Home Screening sweepstakes.
Ms. DiMeo will receive an exclusive, red carpet premiere in her home that will be attended by Paranormal Activity’s
writer/director Oren Peli on December 28, one day before the DVD and Blu-ray become available in stores. Ms. DiMeo and her guests
will be the first fans to see the unrated version, which includes a shocking alternate ending not seen in theaters.
“Paranormal Activity became a hit because it was championed by fans across the country,” said Peli.
“I’m delighted to be celebrating the DVD and Blu-ray debut with one of those fans.”
In addition to the premiere screening and party, Ms. DiMeo will also receive a brand new home theater
system that includes a Panasonic VIERA, a brilliant 42" flat-panel plasma HDTV featuring a 600Hz subfield drive and true
1080p high-definition resolution; and a Panasonic 1000W 7.1-Channel Home Theater System with a Blu-ray disc player and a
built-in dock for Apple® iPod® and VIERA CAST support. The 7.1-channel home theater is a multimedia centerpiece to a complete
home entertainment system so Ms. DiMeo and her friends can experience the full impact of Paranormal Activity, which is “even
scarier when you watch it at home!” (Harry Knowles, AintItCool.com).
“I am so excited,” said Jessica DiMeo. “Paranormal Activity was one of the scariest movies I’ve seen
and I can’t wait to meet the director and be the first person to see the alternate ending on Blu-ray with my brand new home theater system!”
Established in 1643 as part of the Plymouth Colony, Rehoboth is one of Massachusetts’ oldest and most historic towns.
“The fan support for Paranormal Activity made the film not just a success, but a true phenomenon,” said Dennis Maguire, president
Paramount Worldwide Home Entertainment. “It seemed fitting that we celebrate the film’s DVD and Blu-ray debut with a unique event to bring this home for one of those fans.”
Hailed as “a horror phenomenon” (Richard Corliss, Time) and “one of the scariest movies of all time” (BloodyDisgusting.com) Paranormal Activity
drove filmgoers to demand that it play in their cities, ultimately earning over $100 million at the domestic box office.
Loaded with suspense and punctuated by moments of sudden and unexpected horror right up to the shocking ending, Paranormal Activity is more frightening to watch at home,
even with the lights on.
Paranormal Activity will be available as a single-disc DVD and two-disc
Blu-ray that include the original theatrical version of the film, plus the unrated version with an alternate ending.
The Blu-ray also includes a digital copy of the theatrical version.
A small quantity of Paranormal Activity Limited Collector’s Edition DVDs will also be available online,
which include the single-disc DVD plus an authentic film cell from the movie on a collectible trading card and an individually numbered, limited edition t-shirt.
