After years of development and speculation, Universal Pictures' prequel to John Carpenter's classic thriller The Thing is scheduled to begin filming in March and continue till June in Toronto. Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. will be directing from a screenplay by Ronald D. Moore and Eric Heisserer (A Nightmare on Elm Street). Moore's script takes place from the Norwegian camps point of view.

We know that people scream remakes and have been saying "Just call it Thing 2", but if you take a step back and look at this fully; what other movies have come out that take a look from the "Other Side"? Lion King 1 1/2?

Also if you want to really nit-pick, John Carpenter's original was a remake of The thing from Another World.

Carpenter's version is a classic, so it will be interesting to see what they do with this one. Pray it doesn't get screwed up. We look forward to hearing more.
